The Christman Company, Lansing, Michigan

As a company focused on building lasting relationships, our valued AGC affiliation has always been a particular point of pride at The Christman Company. From notes in our own corporate history, on November 20-21, 1918, at the Hotel LaSalle in Chicago, company owners H.G. and J.F. Christman met with a group of other general contractors for the purpose of establishing a national organization of worthy contractors. Five months later, 143 general contractors from 29 states, the District of Columbia, and Quebec Canada attended the first Associated General Contractors of America meeting to establish a code of ethics and uniform building procedures. With that, this national organization that so well represents our industry was off and running. We consider it the highest possible honor to be recognized as one of the five remaining members of the original 141 firms listed when AGC published its first member directory in the spring of 1919. Congratulations on your remarkable centennial achievement, AGC – here’s to the next 100!
