Guy F. Atkinson (1939)

Pennsylvania native Guy F. Atkinson was born with construction in his blood. His grandfather, a British immigrant, established a masonry business not long after settling in the New World, setting the tone for his son and, eventually, his grandson, who founded his own company in 1926. Guy F. Atkinson Construction, which then specialized in major infrastructure (the Hoover Dam would be one of them), and grew impressively, tackling projects including the McNary, Grand Coulee and Dalles Dams – as well as the Alameda Coliseum in Oakland, CA. The company endures today, still constructing complex, heavy civil projects for clients all over the nation.
