Paul Emerick (1989)

Emerick, who became chairman of AGC’s Building Division and chaired and served on dozens of other committees, began his professional life as a teacher who built houses in his spare time on weekends. Before long, word of his skills spread and Emerick Construction was born. Over the decades, he became known as a leader on issues from procurement to labor relations and was named Contractor of the Year by the Oregon Building Congress. AGC’s Paul Emerick Training Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of a person or company dedicated to education and training at all levels of the industry – a fitting legacy for a man who loved to teach.
