Terry Deeny (1999)

Terry Deeny, like all the presidents in this illustrious lineup, had already built an impressive resume before assuming the AGC presidency. Deeny, whose father founded the stalwart Seattle Deeny Construction firm in 1938, joined the family business in the 1960s. Over the decades, he helped them garner an armful of AGC Excellence in Construction and Excellence in Safety awards and honors, and was elected to the University of Washington Construction Hall of Fame – all for his passionate volunteer work – before reaching the association’s highest office.
