M. Clare Miller (1961)
Miller, a native of Kansas, took office two months early (his predecessor’s victory in the gubernatorial election necessitated his stepping down from the presidential post) and boasted multiple presidencies on his long resume. He was – simultaneously – the president of two fine Kansas firms: McPherson Builders, Inc. and San Ore Construction Company. He was also elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Road Federation. Public relations was an ongoing effort during Miller’s AGC term, he often asked members to invite members of the press to job sites and other events, encouraging them to educate the public as to what contractors do and how they work.
